Robert “Beto” O’Rourke, a three-time representative of Texas’s 16th congressional district and Democratic Party presidential hopeful, said on Sunday afternoon that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is racist as he discussed the importance of the US-Israel relationship.
“The US-Israel relationship is one of the most important relationships that we have on the planet,” O’Rourke said. “And that relationship, if it is to be successful, must transcend partisanship in the United States, and it must be able to transcend a Prime Minister who is racist.”
O’Rourke has previously spoken out against Netanyahu. Earlier in March, he said that Netanyahu “openly sided with racists,” reminded that in a previous election, Netanyahu “warned that the Arabs were coming to the polls.”
He then clarified that Abbas is “an ineffectual leader.”
Texas senator Ted Cruz responded stating “this is today’s Democratic Party: Viciously attacking the duly elected leader of Israel & falsely labeling him a racist for defending the Jewish people. There was a time when support for Israel was rightly bipartisan. But then the Dems began courting the anti-Semitic Left.” Read more
